BEGINNERS COURSE

Beginners' courses consist of 2 x 6 hour sessions over a period of two weeks or 6 x 2 hour sessions running over six week.  The cost is £40 per person for the whole course.  Prior to the course, you may be invited to a taster session, to decide if you want to commit to the whole course.  This includes 6 hours training on our field on a Club Target day.

The course will teach you how to shoot safely on the range,

and how to shoot with proper form to avoid injury. It is intended

for people who are thinking of taking up archery as a long-term

competitive sport or hobby (though of course, there is no

obligation to join the club if you decide it's not for you!).

Our coaches will teach and advise you on a number of topics

over the duration of the course, relating to style, bow types,

safety and shooting etiquette. The intention is that you will

complete the course having had fun and having also acquired

enough basic skills and competence in the sport to be able to

join the club and develop your archery further.

We welcome people of all ages, including juniors.  To qualify

for junior membership, applicants must be over 8 years old

and under 18 years old.

It is important to us that all members, no matter their age, enjoy the sport and feel safe and included.  We have zero tolerance of harassment & bullying of any kind.    To attend we advise that clothing should consist of well fitting tops, not loose or baggy clothing or scarves or anything that could get caught in the Bow.  Comfortable flat shoes or trainers (NOT open toed), possibly a hat if you wish.  Enough to keep you warm and dry should it rain and for sun protection.  Remember this is an outdoor activity, in winter the field can be wet and muddy.  We will still hold the course outdoors in light rain, but if the weather is more severe, we will run the course indoors.

Our coaches are DBS checked with Archery GB and we have a Club Safeguarding and Welfare Officer who sits on the Committee (Tim Bonnell).

To register your interest, please email us at admin@cymricarchers.co.uk and the club secretary will pass your details to the coaching team.
